Crochet Sweater Ornament – Free Pattern

The crochet sweater ornament is a free pattern that is crocheted all in one piece! Find the pattern to view below.

Day 3 of the 12 Days of Christmas Crochet Patterns Event is this cute little sweater that you can personalize for each person in your family!

The cool thing about this pattern is that it is a raglan style sweater, so no seaming needs to be done! If you can complete this teeny tiny sweater, you can absolutely make a raglan style sweater for yourself!

Crochet Sweater Ornament Pattern

Materials

Worsted weight yarn

E/3.5mm hook

Tapestry needle

Scissors

Stitch Marker (optional)

Notes

Beginning chain does not count as a stitch.

It will be helpful to mark the ch 1 spaces with stitch markers.

Dimensions: ~ 5” x 3”

Abbreviations (US terms)

Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, sk = skip, sp = space, sl st = slip stitch

Pattern

Round 1: Ch 16, join to first ch

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join to first sc being careful not to twist the round (16)

Round 3: Ch 1, sc in next 2 st, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next st, *sc in next 3 st, (sc, ch 1, sc) in next st, repeat from * two more times, sc in last st, join to first sc (24)

*Use stitch markers to mark ch 1 spaces to find them easily in the next rounds.

Round 4: Ch 1, *sc in each st until ch 1 sp, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch 1 sp from previous round, repeat from * around, sc in remaining st, join to first sc (32)

Round 5: Repeat Round 4 (40)

Round 6: Ch 1, sc in each st until ch 1 sp, sl st together ch 1 sp to next ch 1 sp, sc in each st until next ch 1 sp, sl st that ch 1 sp together with next ch 1 sp, sc in remaining st (20)

We will now have three section, one for the body and two for the sleeves on either side of the body. We will continue to work the body and work on the sleeves after.

Round 8: Ch 1, sc in each st around, including the sl st from the previous round (20)

Round 9-14: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join to first sc (20)

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Sleeves

Attach yarn to armpit of the sleeve

Round 1: Ch 1, sc around, join to first sc (10)

Repeat for a total of 6 rounds.

Repeat for second sleeve.

(Optional) Use contrasting yarn and tapestry needle to embroider a letter on the front of the sweater.
