About the Stitch

The filet puff stitch offers both the filet and puff stitch in alternating rows. This gives a nice, airy look but also gives it some texture.

I used this stitch for my Summer Bag crochet pattern and it came out perfect!

Filet Puff Crochet Written Tutorial

Abbreviations (US terms):

Ch = chain, sc = single crochet dc = double crochet, st = stitch, sk = skip, sp = space, YO = yarn over

Notes:

Puff Stitch: *YO, insert hook in st, YO, pull up a loop, repeat from * 3 more times in same st, YO, pull through all 9 loops

Row 1: Ch any even number, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn

Row 2: Ch 4, sk first and second st, dc in next st, *ch 1, sk next st, dc in next st, repeat from * across, turn

Row 3: Ch 4, *Puff stitch in next ch 1 sp from previous row, ch 2, repeat from * across, puff stitch in between last st and beginning ch of previous row, ch 1, dc in 3rd ch from the bottom of beginning ch of previous row, turn

Row 4: Ch 4, *dc in next ch 2 sp from previous row, ch 1, repeat from * across, end with dc in 3rd ch from the bottom of beginning ch of previous row, turn

Repeat Row 3-4.
