If you love making crochet blankets like I do, this is a must save post for future reference! I put together lots of crochet borders to use. Ranging from simple to unique, you’ll be sure to find something to add to your blanket.
I typically use the same borders over and over again. A lot of my blankets have simple basic borders such as a half double crochet. Sometimes I’ll add in a few different colors if I think a thicker border is needed.
Although this is a great border for any blanket, I do like to change it up and learn new stitches!
What kind of border should I use?
The more unique and elegant borders are perfect for very simple stitched blankets. Simple borders can compliment busier crochet blankets just to give it a nice finished touch.
A crochet blanket done in all single or double crochets can be dressed up with a unique border to really make it stand out.
Blankets made with all one color can also be spruced up with a border in a contrasting color or many colors!
If your blanket has multiple colors, some borders can be repeated multiple times around to tie in all the colors from the blanket.
Overall, make it your own! Play around with different borders and see what you like. The best part about crochet is that you are the artist and you choose what stitches and colors you want to put together.
Crochet Borders for Blankets
For maximum browsing, I mixed in unique and simple borders. There may be some borders that you didn’t know you were looking for and you can save them for later.
Each border has a tutorial that goes with it! Find it by clicking on the name of the border underneath the photo. Happy looking!

If you are looking for even more crochet borders, I recommend these crochet books:
Every Which Way Crochet Borders
Around the Corner Crochet Borders
Both books are by the same author. Even just getting one of them to add to your library is such a great resource especially if you love crocheting blankets as much as I do!
I purchased the first book and I can’t believe I didn’t have it in my library sooner! It’s so fun to browse and there are so many wonderful border ideas and ways to even customize your own!

I have been looking for a border to go on my blanket. I went through all of yours but nothing jumped out at me. I’m doing blankets for WUA. They are 7×9 rectangles that I put together. The colors are Red, White & Blue. I would appreciate your help. Thanks
