Bernat Maker Home Dec Yarn
I have to say, I’m very impressed with the Bernat Maker Home Dec yarn. I don’t think I have ever used anything like it before!
It’s squishy soft and has such durable qualities – this yarn will NOT pil or fuzz up! That is what makes it great for this decorative pillow pattern.
I ended up using one and a partial skein of this yarn and I can’t wait to make something else with it. This is definitely the ultimate yarn for home decor!
Construction of the Crochet Christmas Pillow
The pillow is easy to crochet, although the construction takes some time to make everything even.
I crocheted two rectangles using a fun textured stitch. I knew the cream color would allow the subtle texture to show up beautifully, and it did!
Next, I worked on the wreath because I knew it was going to be the center of attention and I wanted to make sure I got that down before working on the letters.
Made up of several small leaves, the wreath took me the most time out of all of the components. Since I spent extra time arranging them and making sure it looked pleasing to the eye, I’ve taken all of the guess work out for you!
The arrangement is pretty simple and follows a pattern. I put two leaves together in a “V” shape and simply placed them partially on each other at a slight angle until it formed the circle.
The letters are easy to crochet and with some careful to detail, I was able to sew them on evenly spaced apart from the wreath.
Once all the pieces were crocheted and sewn on, all that was left to do was join the two panels and stuff!

Row 2: Ch 1, sc across, turn (3)
Repeat Row 2 until you have a total of 14 rows.
Fasten off. Leave tail for sewing.
Assembly
Arrange letters and leaves on the pillow so it is evenly spaced.
To arrange leaves into a wreath, place them in a “V” pattern around in a circle. Slightly overlap to create layers at a slight angle to make a circle.
Once arranged, pin down as needed.
Sew on each piece or use fabric glue to secure them.
You may need to manipulate the letters to get them to lay correctly.
Using Bernat Maker yarn and J/6.00mm hook, single crochet the rectangular panels together. Once three sides are crocheted together, begin to stuff the pillow with polyfil. Single crochet together the remaining side, making sure the pillow is adequately stuffed before joining to the first single crochet and fastening off. Weave in ends.

For the leaves-at the 2nd ss, I just went straight into another ch 8 and followed your steps with an additional ss into the base of the first leaf. That way your V is attached. Hope it looks as good as yours 😍
