Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas Crochet Ornaments is this pickle!
Did you know the significance of a pickle ornament? I’m going to be honest and say I did not know until this year!
I’m sure there are many variations to this tradition, but being the first to spot the pickle on the tree on Christmas morning gets you a reward or an extra gift! This is fun especially for a family with kiddos. We will officially be starting this tradition now that I have a crochet pickle ornament!

Free Crochet Pickle Ornament Pattern
Materials
Worsted weight yarn in green and black
(2) 6mm safety eyes
Polyfil
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Notes
Beginning chain does not count as a stitch.
Abbreviations:(US terms)
Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, sc2tog = single crochet two together, dc = double crochet, st = stitch
Pattern
Use green yarn.
Round 1: Magic ring, ch 1, 8sc, join to first sc (8)
Round 2: Ch 1, 2sc in each st around, join to first sc (16)
Round 3: Ch 1, *dc, sc, repeat from * around, join to first dc (16)
Round 4: Ch 1, *sc, dc, repeat from * around, join to first sc (16)
Repeat Row 3 & 4 until you have a total of 13 rows
Add eyes and sew on mouth with black yarn and tapestry needle.
Stuff with polyfil.
Row 14: Ch 1, sc2tog around, join to first sc (8)
Fasten off and close up hole.
Attach yarn to top for hanging.
