Crochet Apple Basket Applique Pattern

The apple basket applique pattern is part of the Fall Themed Blanket. Find the pattern below along with the granny square pattern.

The apple filled basket only requires a small amount of yarn in red, taupe, and brown.

Get creative and make your apples different colors if you’d like! There are a variety of apples out there. I just made mine a basic red color.

Crochet Apple Basket Applique Pattern

Materials

Worsted weight yarn in red, taupe, and brown.

4.00mm hook

3.75mm hook

Tapestry needle and scissors

Notes

Beginning chain does not count as a stitch.

Written Pattern

Basket

Use taupe color yarn and 4.00mm hook.

Row 1: Ch 10, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, turn (9)

Row 2: Ch 1, 2sc, sc in next 7 st, 2sc in last st, turn (11)

Row 3-4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (11)

Row 5: Ch 1, 2sc, sc in next 9 st, 2sc in last st, turn (13)

Row 6-7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (13)

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

Use brown color to surface slip stitch between Row 1 and 2 and between 4 and 6.

Apples

Use red yarn and 3.75mm hook.

Round 1: Magic ring, ch 2, 7hdc in ring, ch 2, sl st into ring.

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

Make 4 apples per basket.

Granny Square Pattern

K/6.50mm hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors

Notes:

Beginning chain does not count as a stitch UNLESS otherwise stated.

Granny square will start with a circle and form into a square.

Round 1: Magic ring, ch 2, 12 dc in ring, join to first dc (12)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2dc in each st around, join to first dc (24)
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as stitch), (dc, ch 2, 2dc) in same st as ch 3, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, *(2dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3
Round 4: Sl st to ch 2 space from previous row, Ch 3 (counts as st) (dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in same ch 2 space, dc across, *(2dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in ch 2 space from previous row, dc across, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3
Round 5-6: Repeat Round 4
Fasten off and weave in ends.

    I love the center of the square. If I want to make a one piece blanket, do I just continue the last row repeatedly? Thank you.

      Yes, you will just repeat the last row until it is as big as you’d like it!
