Halloween Crochet Pillow Set

Last year, I did Christmas pillows and they were the perfect little project to get finished before the holidays and for gifts. I thought Halloween would be fun too!

Crochet Cat Pillow Pattern
Materials
Worsted (medium 4) weight yarn in black, gold, white, and pink
6.00mm crochet hook
4.00mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Crochet Pattern Notes
This pillow is made by crocheting two separate panels then crocheting them together around the pillow insert. Cat face is crocheted separately then sewn onto the front panel.

Abbreviations (US terms)
Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sc2tog = single crochet two together, hdc2tog, half double crochet two together, st = stitch
Crochet Pattern
Front and Back Panel
Use black yarn with 6.00mm crochet hook.
Row 1: Ch 44, dc into the 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch, *dc in next ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, turn (42)
Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first st, sc in next st, *dc in next st, sc in next st, repeat from * across, turn (42)
Repeat Row 2 until you have a total of 34 rows.
We will now start on one of the cat ears.
Row 35: Ch 1, hdc in next 10 st, turn (10)
Row 36: Ch 1, hdc2tog over first 2 st, hdc in next 6 st, hdc2tog over last 2 st, turn (8)
Row 37: Ch 1, hdc2tog over first 2 st, hdc in next 4 st, hdc2tog over last 2 st, turn (6)
Row 38: Ch 1, hdc2tog over first 2 st, hdc in next 2 st, hdc2tog over last 2 st, turn (4)
Row 39: Ch 1, hdc2tog over first 2 st, hdc2tog over last 2 st, turn (2)
Fasten off.
Count 10 stitches back on Row 34 (the main part of the pillow) and attach black yarn to start second ear.
Repeat Row 35-39 to complete second ear. Fasten off.
Make two panels.
Cat Eyes
Use gold yarn and 4.00mm crochet hook.
Row 1: Ch 2, 2sc into 2nd ch from hook, turn (2)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, 2sc in last st, turn (4)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, sc in next 2 st, 2sc in last st, turn (6)
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (6)
Row 5: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, sc in next 4 st, 2sc in last st, turn (8)
Row 6-10: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (8)
Row 11: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc in next 4 st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn (6)
Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (6)
Row 13: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc in next 2 st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn (4)
Row 14: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn (2)
Row 15: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st (1)
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Make two.
Use black yarn and 4.00mm crochet hook.
Row 1: Ch 6, sc in first st, hdc in next st, dc in next st, hdc in next st, sc in last st, fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
Use white yarn to sew on highlight of eye. Use photo above as a guide.
Make two and sew onto gold part of the eye using photo above as a guide.Nose
Use pink yarn and 4.00mm crochet hook.
Row 1: Ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn (4)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn (2)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st (1)
Row 4: Ch 1, sc crochet around the triangle making 3sc in each corner
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.
Assembly
Each panel should measure roughly 14” x 14”. They will be stretchy, so stretch them out a bit before sewing on the face.
Use the photo as a guide to sew on the eyes, nose, and whiskers.
You can also use fabric glue or something similar to attach the pieces.
Hold both panels together and attach black yarn to a corner. Use 6.00mm hook and crochet the panels together with single crochets evenly around. Make 3 single crochets in each corner, including the top corners of the cat ears. Once three sides are crocheted together, insert pillow and crochet remaining side. Join to first stitch, fasten off, and weave in ends.
