Halloween Crochet Pillow Set

halloween crochet pillow patterns

Make the whole set of these Halloween crochet pillows with the other free patterns on my blog:

  • Crochet Black Cat Pillow
  • Crochet Ghost Pillow
  • Crochet Frankenstein Pillow

All of these pillows use a 14″ x 14″ pillow insert. I found these on Amazon to be a good deal as well as good quality. They come vacuum sealed in a 4-pack, so all you have to do it throw them in the dryer to fluff them up.

Halloween Crochet Plushie Set

Add to your Halloween decoration and make the whole plushie set as well! All of them are free crochet patterns on my blog.

Removable Crochet Pillow Cover

For this ghost pillow, I made it with a removable cover while my former crochet pillows are just crocheted all around with the insert not able to be removed.

However, all of my pillows (including my Christmas pillows) can be made removable by adding some buttons.

I created a video tutorial that you can watch below on how to achieve this. Making the crocheted pillows a removable cover makes them easier to store and the inserts can be used for other seasonal pillow covers.

Notes

This pillow is made by crocheting two separate panels then crocheting them together around the pillow insert.

This pillow cover is not removable but you can watch this video tutorial above on how to make it removable with buttons.

Ghost face is crocheted separately then sewn onto the front panel.

Numbers in parentheses at the end row/round indicates number of stitches for that row/round.

Pattern

Front and Back Panel

Use white yarn with 6.00mm crochet hook.

Row 1: Ch 44, dc into the 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch, *dc in next ch, sc in next ch, repeat from * across, turn (42)

Row 2: Ch 2, dc in first st, sc in next st, *dc in next st, sc in next st, repeat from * across, turn (42)

Repeat Row 2 until you have a total of 34 rows.

Make two panels.

Round 2: Ch 1, 2hdc in each st around, join to first st (20)

Mouth

Use black yarn and 4.00mm crochet hook.

Round 1: Magic ring, ch 1, 10 hdc in ring, join to first st (10)

Round 2: Ch 1, 2hdc in each st around, join to first st (20)

Round 3: Ch 1, hdc in first st, 2hdc in next st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc next st, repeat from * around, join to first st (30)

Round 4: Ch 1, dc in next 5 st, hdc in next 10 st, dc in next 5 st, hdc in remaining st, join to first st

Fasten off and leave tail for sewing.

Assembly

Each panel should measure roughly 14” x 14”. They will be stretchy, so stretch them out a bit before sewing on the face.

Use the photo as a guide to sew on the eyes, eyebrows, and mouth with black yarn and tapestry needle.

You can also use fabric glue or something similar to attach the pieces.

Hold both panels together and attach white yarn to a corner. Use 6.00mm hook and crochet the panels together with single crochets evenly around. Make 3 single crochets in each corner. Once three sides are crocheted together, insert pillow and crochet remaining side.* Join to first stitch, fasten off, and weave in ends.

*See video tutorial above for how to make a removable cover.
