Learn how to crochet the Easy Breezy Cardigan with the free pattern down below. Long, flowy, textured, simple, light, and easy are all perfect words to describe the Easy Breezy Cardigan! What colors will you choose to make yours?
The Design
This easy cardigan truly is an easy one! It is based upon three rectangles seamed together. Sleeves are added on last, although you can make it sleeveless if you’d like!
For this cardigan, I knew I wanted it to check off a few different things off my list. I wanted it to be light, I wanted it to be breathable, and lastly, I wanted it to be cute and easy to wear!
To make it light, I chose a DK weight yarn that I used previously for my Triangle Scarf. I had leftover skeins that I was able to use for this cardigan, which I always love using leftover yarn that I already have!
Using a larger hook than recommended for the light weight yarn and also using the treble stitch, I was able to achieve a breathable and flowy fabric. The drape of the fabric turned out better than I thought, and it will be perfect for summer evenings!
Neutrals are my go-to for purchasing clothing and since I wanted this garment to be easy to wear, I picked soft neutrals so I could wear it with anything! I absolutely love easy to wear cardigans that match with just about anything you have in your wardrobe. Those cardigans quickly become my go-to, run out the door layer and this one is becoming just that!
To play it up a bit, I also added alternating rows of half double crochets to give it an interesting texture and look. To top it off, I incorporated white stripes on the bottom just to give it a little something to an otherwise basic cardigan.
You can absolutely make it one solid color and I think it would be just as pretty! Especially if you pair it with a patterned tank underneath!
Personally, I wear a lot of basic tanks and tees paired with jeans (or jeggings) so I love that this cardigan can dress up a basic outfit with just a few stripes.
