Learn how to make a beautiful and cozy crochet ripple blanket with this easy to follow written pattern, complete with a helpful video guide. Perfect for motivated beginners and experienced crocheters alike!

  • Purchase the ad-free PDF in my Etsy shop or Ravelry.
  • PIN it to your Pinterest boards for later.
  • View the free pattern below on my blog.

This ripple blanket gives you that chevron look but with softer waves that make it look flowy and feminine. The free crochet pattern below will give you all the information you need to make a blanket of your own!

There is also an ad-free, printable PDF version of this crochet blanket pattern where you will find (in addition to the written pattern) yarn amounts as well as beginning chain counts for 8 different sized blankets. I did all of the math for you so you can be confident in making the perfect sized blanket.

Crochet Ripple Stitch

For this crochet stitch, you will need to know how to make double crochets stitches as well as double crochet decreases. The video tutorial will come in handy if you are new to double crochet decreases. This decrease is over three stitches. Once you learn how to make it, you will be well on your way to quickly crocheting this blanket!

If you are a beginner, you may want to make a small swatch as a practice swatch to get the hang of the ripple stitch pattern.

Since this blanket is made with different colors to makes stripes, you will need to make color changes with the yarn. The video tutorial will show you how I prefer to change my yarn colors if you need a visual on how to do so. You will also see that I crochet over the yarn tails as much as I can after color changes to eliminate weaving in the yarn ends.

Yarn and Materials

For this blanket, I used I Love This Yarn! which is a medium, worsted weight yarn. I used 4 different colors in the following colorways: Glacier, Orchid, Cream, and Antique White.

The dimensions of my blanket came out to be about 40″ x 42″ with just one skein of each color.

You will also need a 6.50mm crochet hook or another size hook to meet the gauge in the pattern notes. As a side note, I tend to have a looser tension when I crochet. If you are unfamiliar with gauge, this post will help you navigate making a gauge swatch.

To make any size blanket with the pattern below, chain (with the multiple in the pattern) until it is roughly the width you want your blanket.
