If you want a cute sleeve for your kindle so you can take it on the go with you to keep it protected, this is the crochet pattern for you! I made this crochet kindle sleeve for my Kindle Colorsoft but I have added notes to the pattern so you can make it for the device you have. BONUS! I added a video tutorial so you can follow the pattern step by step.

- Grab the PDF printable/download on my Etsy or Ravelry.
- PIN it to your Pinterest boards for later.
- View the free crochet pattern for the kindle sleeve below right here on my blog.
If you are both a kindle and physical book kind of reader – I also have a book sleeve pattern that you can find here. I love reading both and having the crochet covers add such a cozy touch even when I’m not necessarily bringing the books anywhere.
You can technically also use this kindle sleeve pattern for a physical book as well by following the notes for modifications in the pattern below. Not all books are the same size but I’m sure you have many laying around and can make a sleeve with the dimensions that are right for your books!
Yarn + Materials for Kindle Sleeve
For this pattern, I used worsted weight acrylic yarn. Acrylic yarn gives a more bouncy texture vs cotton and I think it is better suited for a kindle sleeve where you want a bit of padding to protect your device. Plus, I’m sure most of us have this yarn in our stash!
For the closure, I used a 1″ button. You will also need a needle and thread to attach this button to the sleeve.

Kindle Sleeve Free Crochet Pattern
*Video tutorial is below the written pattern.
Materials
Worsted weight yarn
6.5mm crochet hook
1” Button (needle and thread to attach)
Tapestry needle + Scissors
Notes
You will turn your work after each round.
Beginning chain of each round does not count as a stitch.
A stitch marker may be helpful to use to mark the first stitch of each round.
To make the sleeve wider, add to the beginning chain in multiples of 2.
To make the sleeve longer, continue to add rows by repeating Row 4.
Dimensions: Fits a 5” x 7” kindle or device

Row 5-21: Repeat Row 4
Row 22: Ch 1, fold sleeve in half to close up the bottom, sc together both sides all the way across (see photo 4)

Fasten off and weave in ends. Flip inside out so the seam is on the inside.
Assembly
Sew on button 6 rows down from the opening of the sleeve.
Flip the sleeve over and attach yarn to the top edge of the sleeve in the center, ch 20, attach one stitch over, fasten off and weave in ends. This will create the loop/closure to go around the button. (See photo 5)
