Free Crochet Owl Ornament Pattern
Materials
Worsted weight yarn in light brown, off-white, and yellow
5mm safety eyes (2)
4.00 mm crochet hook
3.50 mm crochet hook
Polyfil stuffing
Ribbon (optional)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Pattern Notes
Beginning chain of each round does not count as a stitch.
Abbreviations: (US terms)
Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, st = stitch
Pattern
Start with light brown yarn and 4.00 mm crochet hook.
Round 1: Magic ring, ch 1, 8 sc in ring, join to first st
Round 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join to first st
Round 3: Ch 1, sc in first st, 2sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around, join to first st
Round 4: Ch 1, sc in first 2 st, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in next st, repeat from * around, join to first st
Round 5-18: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join to first st
DO NOT fasten off.
Eyes
Use off-white yarn and 3.50 mm crochet hook.
Round 1: Magic ring, ch 1, 8 hdc in ring, join to first st.
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing. Make two eyes.
Add 5mm safety eyes to the center.
Sew onto face between rows 12 and 17.
Beak
Use yellow yarn and tapestry needle to embroider on nose between eyes.
Feathers
Use off-white yarn and tapestry needle to sew on feathers in a V shape under the face.
Assembly
Stuff body with stuffing.
Use 4.00mm crochet hook to close up head by folding it in half and sc together. Fasten off and weave in ends.
Attach string or ribbon for hanging.
