The brontosaurus dinosaur applique is part of the Dinosaur Granny Square Blanket. However, you can use this little cutie however you’d like!

Below you will find both the written patterns and video tutorial for the dinosaur applique and the granny square. You may need to disable your ad-blocker temporarily if you are unable to see the videos.
For the dinosaur blanket, make one green with yellow spots and one orange with blue spots.

Brontosaurus Pattern
Yarn: worsted weight
Hook sizes: G/4.00mm (main dinosaur) and C/2.75mm (spots)
Note: Beginning chain of each row does not count as a stitch.
For the dinosaur blanket, make one green with yellow spots and one orange with blue spots.
Body G/4.00mm hook
Row 1: Ch 16, sc in 2nd ch from hook and across, turn (15)
Row 2-7: Ch 1, sc across, turn (15)
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Legs
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 4 sp, turn (4)
Row 2-7: Ch 1, sc across, turn (4)
Ch 1, turn work 90 degrees and work up the side of the leg to get back to the body. Sl st until you reach the sp where the leg meets the body.
Sl st in the next 8 sp along the underside of the body.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Continue to make the second leg.
Leg #2:
Ch 1, sc in same sp as last sl st, sc in next 3 sp, turn (4)
Row 2-7: Ch 1, sc across, turn (4)
Ch 1, turn work 90 degrees and work up the side of the leg to get back to the body. Sl st until there are 3 rows left of the backside of the body.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Tail
Ch 13, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 3 ch, dc in next 3 ch, tr in next 3 ch, join to top right corner of body.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Continue to work the following on the top of the body:
Sl st, sc in next 4 st, hdc in next 4 st, sc in remaining st, turn
DO NOT FASTEN OFF
Head
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 5 st, turn (5)
Row 2-9: Ch 1, sc across, turn (5)
Row 10: Ch 1, sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc (5)
Turn work 90 degrees and work down side of neck
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in next 5 sp evenly, turn (5)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc, hdc in next 3 st, turn (4)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc across (4)
Fasten off and leave tail for sewing
Spots C/2.75mm hook
Magic ring, ch 1, 6sc in ring, join to first sc.
Tighten and fasten off. Leave tail for sewing.
Make 3 spots. Sew on body using photo as a guide.
Attach safety eye using photo as guide.
Granny Square Pattern
Note: If you are NOT joining as you go, add a 7th row and change 7th row to white.
Dimensions: 8″ square
J/6.00mm hook
Round 1: Magic ring, ch 2, 10 dc in ring, join to first dc (10)
Round 2: Ch 2, 2dc in each st around, join to first dc (20)
Round 3: Ch 3 (counts as stitch), (dc, ch 2, 2dc) in same st as ch 3, dc, hdc in next 2 st, dc, *(2dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in next st, dc, hdc in next 2 st, dc, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3 (each side of square will have 8 st)
Round 4: Sl st to ch 2 space from previous row, Ch 3 (counts as st) (dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in same ch 2 space, dc across, *(2dc, ch 2, 2dc) all in ch 2 space from previous row, dc across, repeat from * around, join to beginning ch 3 (each side of square will have 12 st)
Round 5-6: Repeat Round 4 (Each side will grow by 4 stitches after each round)
Fasten off and weave in ends.

I am kinda confused, for the granny square in white, my square is at 8 inches with 6 rounds which is what you stated it should be but when I count the number of rows from your posted picture, I am seeing 7 rows. When adding in a 7th row, my square is now at 9 inches. Am I crocheting too loosely? Do I only need to crochet 6 rows instead of 7? Thank you 😊

Great question! Once the squares are finished with 6 rows, we will join as you go during the last week of the crochet along. This will add the 7th row.

I want to thank you for your wonderful patterns and your willingness to share them. I have made the ocean themed one and now working on the Woodland one. I had the ocean one hanging in our living room. When Hurricane Florence hit one of our friends went in and took it down off the wall. We have not been able to move back into our house yet even after 9 months. When we do both will be hanging in our home. Thank you again for your willingness to share.
