Beautiful crochet ripple stitch + super bulky yarn = satisfyingly quick blanket project! Using super bulky yarn with a pretty stitch makes such a great weekend project that you can surely finish in no time. Grab some pretty yarn, your crochet hook, and prepare to be impressed with how easily this blanket works up.

Crochet Ripple Stitch
The ripple stitch is a very easy and repetitive once you get the hang of it. Once you have the pattern down, it will be a very relaxing stitch to crochet. I would deem this an easy crochet stitch and even a determined beginner could tackle this stitch – especially using the video tutorial I have provided.
This crochet stitch looks similar to a chevron blanket but the the “zig zags” and “peaks and valleys” are much more soft and wavy.
You will need to know how to double crochet, double crochet increase, and double crochet decrease. The increases will be the peaks of the ripple and the decreases will become the valleys of the ripple.
I have previously made a ripple stitch blanket with worsted weight yarn, in which I’ve made a full video tutorial on the crochet ripple stitch that you can watch here. You can also find the written pattern for that blanket with worsted weight yarn here.

Super Bulky Yarn
For this blanket, I used Caron Slice of Anniversary Cakes in the colors Crocus (solid purple) and Hocus Crocus (variegated color). It is a super bulky weight (6), 100% acrylic yarn, and has 8.8oz/285 yards per skein.
I used 3 skeins of each (with leftovers of each color) and the size of this blanket turned out to be 50″ x 55″ which is a good sized blanket to cozy up with on the couch!
The Caron Slice of Anniversary Cake line does a nice job at having a solid color to pair with the variegated colors seamlessly. I definitely recommend using this line of yarn for this stunning look.
Of course, there are other super bulky yarns on the market to choose from but don’t necessarily have a solid/variegated in the same line. If you want something similar with the variegated look, also check out Caron Chunky Cakes or Lion Brand Mandala Thick + Quick.
