Looking for a fun and festive fall project? Learn how to crochet your own pumpkin coasters with this free pattern. Perfect for cozying up your home decor or for a cute gift.
Crochet coasters add a great hand made touch to your home decor and I love these pumpkins so much! I was inspired by my simple coasters I made last year. You can find the pattern for those here.
I love the little bobbles around the edge because they make the perfect little border for your cup or mug to sit in. I thought it was also a great texture for these pumpkin coasters!
Overview
As far as yarn goes, I recommend using 100% cotton yarn. It’s durable, washable, and absorbent. All great characteristics you want in a cup coaster. I would not recommend acrylic yarn only because if it gets wet, it does not absorb the water and it will not give you the nice crisp stitches that the cotton yarn will.
Besides the bobble stitch (which really makes these coasters pop), the coasters are crocheted using basic crochet stitches. The skill level for this pattern is “easy”. I would say an advanced beginner and beyond will be able to complete this project easily.
For this pattern, you will crochet a circle by increasing in each round then make a border using bobble stitches. The pumpkin stem is crocheted on separately after finishing the main part of the pumpkin. This pattern is very simple and you can quickly crochet a whole set in one evening.
