Free Crochet Stingray Applique Pattern
Materials
Worsted weight yarn in navy blue and silver
G/4.00 mm crochet hook
6mm safety eyes (2)
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Notes
Foundation single crochets will be used in this pattern for the tail.
French knots with black yarn can be substituted for the safety eyes.
Abbreviations (US terms):
Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, dc = double crochet, YO = yarn over, st = stitch, sl st = slip stitch
Pattern
Row 1: Ch 3, sc in each st across, turn (2)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st across, turn (4)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 st, 2 sc in last st, turn (6)
Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st across, turn (12)
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (12)
Row 6: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 10 st, 2 sc in last st, turn (14)
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn (14)
Row 8: Ch 1, sl st into next 5 st, ch 2, dc into next 4 st, sl st into last 5 st, fasten off
Tail + Spots
Attach navy yarn to Row 1, ch 1, insert hook into next space, pull up a loop, YO, pull through one loop, YO, pull through both loops. That completes one foundation single crochet. Continue to foundation single crochet 4 more times. Fasten off.
Use silver yarn and tapestry needle to sew spots onto the body of the stingray.
