Crochet Summer Themed Granny Square Blanket Pattern

The crochet summer themed blanket will be crocheted together in a crochet along! Find all the information down below.

The Summer Blanket CAL will start February 6th and run for a total of 9 weeks. This allows you to crochet this heirloom blanket in reasonable chunks without getting overwhelmed.

Each week, you will be crocheting granny squares and appliques. Each part will include both written pattern and video tutorials. You will also have the option to purchase the entire written pattern as a condensed download once the crochet along begins on February 6th.

Below you will find the list of materials as well as the sign-up! This will ensure you get each part of the pattern sent to your email.

Materials

Paintbox Yarn Simply Aran:

9 skeins in Champagne White

2 skeins in Marine Blue

2 skeins in Spearment Green

2 skeins in Daffodil Yellow

2 skeins in Bubblegum Pink

Chose an additional skein of color for the border. I chose the blue. Note: I used the ENTIRE skein just for the border with just a foot left to spare. Grab 2 skeins for the border if you want to be safe.

Additional yarn colors in worsted weight yarn:
Orange
Tan
Black
White

Note: Only small amounts of these colors are used for the appliques.

Crochet Patterns for Summer Blanket

Purchase the entire pattern in one download/file on Ravelry or Etsy.

Week 1

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 pink granny squares
• Crochet 4 watermelon appliques and sew them onto white squares

Week 2

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 pink granny squares.
• Crochet 4 pairs of sunglasses and sew them onto white squares. Make one in each color (yellow, pink, blue, green)

Week 3

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 yellow granny squares.
• Crochet 4 lemonade appliques and sew them onto the white squares.

Week 4

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 yellow granny squares.
• Crochet 4 sun appliques and sew them onto the white squares.

Week 5

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 green granny squares.
• Crochet 4 palm tree appliques and sew them onto white squares.

Week 6

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 green granny squares.
• Crochet 4 flip flop appliques and sew them onto the white squares.

Week 7

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 blue granny squares.
• Crochet 4 popsicles and sew them onto the white squares.

Week 8

• Crochet 4 white granny squares and 4 blue granny squares.
• Crochet 4 beach ball appliques and sew them onto the white squares.

Week 9

• Join all squares using the layout below. Learn how to crochet your squares together here.
• Border: Attach white yarn to corner, ch 1, sc in each st around making 5 sc in each corner, join to first sc. Change to border color of choice. Ch 2, bobble stitch in every other stitch around.
  
  Bobble Stitch: *Yarn over, insert hook into st, pull up a loop, yarn over, pull through two st, repeat from * 3 more times, yarn over, pull through all loops, ch 1
