Free Crochet Clownfish Applique Pattern
Materials
Worsted weight yarn in orange, black, white
6mm safety eye
G/4.00 mm crochet hook + E/3.50 mm crochet hook
Tapestry needle + Scissors
Notes
Abbreviations (US terms):
Ch = chain, sc = single crochet, hdc = half double crochet, dc = double crochet, sc2tog = single crochet two together, sc3tog = single crochet three together, st = stitch, sl st = slip stitch
Pattern
Body
Use E hook and orange yarn.
Row 1: Ch 4, sc into 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn
Row 2: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, sc in next st, 2sc in last st, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, 2sc in first st, sc in next 3 st, 2sc in last st, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Change to white yarn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Change to orange yarn.
Row 7: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Row 8: Ch 2, dc in next 2 st, sc in next 3 st, dc in last 2 st, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 9: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Change to white yarn.
Row 10: Ch 1, sc in next 2 st, dc in next 3 st, sc in last 2 st, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 11: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn
Change to orange yarn.
Row 12: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc in next 3 st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn
Row 13: Ch 1, sc2tog over first 2 st, sc in next st, sc2tog over last 2 st, turn
Row 14: Ch 1, sc3tog, turn
Row 15: Ch 1, 2sc, turn
Row 16: Ch 1, 2sc in each st across, turn
Row 17: Ch 1, 2sc in each st across, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 18: Ch 1, sc in each st across, fasten off.
Fins
Use G hook
Fin #1
Attach orange yarn to top middle orange section of the body.
Ch 1, hdc in next st, dc in next st, (hdc, sl st) into next st, fasten off.
Attach black yarn to the base of the fin that you just made and sc around, fasten off.
Fin #2
Attach orange yarn to last black stripe on top of the body.
Ch 1, hdc in next 3 st, sl st in same st and fasten off.
Attach black yarn to the base of the fin you just made, sc around, fasten off.
Fin #3
Attach yarn to underside of the body, one stitch away from the tail. Repeat instructions from Fin #2.
Side Fin
Use E hook and orange yarn. This will be made separately.
Row 1: Ch 3, sc in 2nd chain from hook and across, turn
Row 2: Ch 1, 2sc in each st across, turn
Change to black yarn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, fasten off.
Sew onto side body.
Attach safety eye.
